15 Ways Astrology + Human Design Can Get In Your Way
(when they’re meant to set you free.)
We had a couple of really lovely calls in The Collective recently and one of the things we are noodling right now is two fold but synchronous - the magic is most often in the work we avoid and so many come to astrology and human design and just get completely buried in information (and/or obsess over getting it “right”).
When the real magic is in the play. And the integration. Is in utilizing your chart as information to align you with your unique Soul’s orientation and to inform practices, pathways, and tools that will be most helpful and are most in resonance for you.
That it is in fact an experiment, not meant to be sequestered in your brain, not meant to be endless rabbit holes or the constant unpacking of shadow. Not meant to keep you in fixing mind. But to be a living breathing experience. That is imperfect and unique to you.
When you just keep pulling threads (and I say this as a consummate thread puller), you don’t cultivate any real positive change because you’re swimming in information overwhelm and forgot to show up to embodiment, to practice, to your nervous system, to ease, flow.
For A LOT of my members this month, I asked them to stay out of the bulk of the astrology and human design and JUST focus on THIS IS THE SPACE. We are pulling two cosmic threads this month based on Soul manifestation to inform the practicum but what we’re really doing is release, regulation, orientation, subconscious rewiring and mastering frequency. This is why I separated the practicum piece of my membership out to increase access because, for most, it is the MOST important work you can be doing right now. And often what’s skipped.
One of the things I tried to really drill in for the 2026 workshop was that we are heading into a season of SO MUCH air and fire with little to ground it. We will all have to consciously choose grounding, slowness, spaciousness, intentional stewarding so we don’t burn out. We will have to consciously choose body, because mind will be so loud.
Now more than ever we need to prioritize the practices, the tools that will hold your center in chaotic times. The ones that allow you to truly expand your capacity for abundance. The ones that let you hold the vision and energetics of a new world while the old one crumbles around you. That helps you master your frequency, equanimity, and connection to your Higher Self.
Here are some ways we can let (even useful) information hinder us rather than empower us…
1. You completely outsource your decisions.
Instead of asking, “What feels right?” You only ask, “Is this aligned with the sky?”
Timing matters. But felt sovereignty matters more.
This may also look like an over-fixation on getting your Strategy + Authority “right’.
2. You blame your chart for behavior you haven’t integrated.
“I’m just an emotional person.”
“I’m a projector.”
“I have Mars in detriment.”
Insight isn’t a hall pass. It’s an invitation to mature the energy.
3. You keep pulling threads instead of weaving them.
Another podcast. Another book. Another course.
Another gate. Another asteroid. Another shadow.
At some point… the work is integration, not more information.
4. You confuse awareness with embodiment.
You can articulate your profile, nodes, and incarnation cross.
But your nervous system is still braced.
Knowing ≠ living.
5. You spiritualize avoidance.
“It’s not aligned.”
“It’s not correct timing.”
“Saturn is on my MC.”
Sometimes it’s just discomfort you need to push through.
6. You use your design to stay small.
“I’m not meant to initiate.”
“I don’t have that channel.”
“That’s not in my chart.”
Your blueprint describes your orientation, not your ceiling.
7. You obsess over sky.
Reading every minor aspect.
Tracking every return.
Checking the daily transits.
Meanwhile… the body is asking for sleep and a walk.
This can also look like overriding intuition. Like someone who chases the perfect AstroCarto rather than listening to that still voice within of their Soul telling them where their journey is meant to go.
8. You chase peak transits instead of building daily capacity.
Waiting for Jupiter. Waiting for the Eclipse. Waiting for the big activation.
You forget your life is built in the small actions you take on a Tuesday.
9. You over-identify with shadow language.
Debilitated. Fall. Difficult house. Karmic.
There is a difference between growth edges and doom cosmo-ing.
10. You let the system define you instead of inform you.
You are not your chart.
You are the consciousness moving through it.
11. You ignore your nervous system.
You want clarity on purpose but your vagus nerve is fried.
No system can override a dysregulated body.
When we prioritize information over regulation we stay stuck looping.
12. You use cosmic weather as an excuse not to act.
“Mercury retrograde.”
“Void moon.”
“Nodes shifting.”
Sometimes intuitive action is its own right timing.
13. You seek certainty instead of relationship.
Astrology is relational.
Human Design is relational.
Life is relational.
It’s all an experiment. When we demand guarantees, we collapse the field.
14. You measure yourself against other charts.
Comparing placements.
Comparing homogenized “impact.”
Comparing highly curated socials.
Different architecture. Different expression. Different unique Soul journey. Many of us forget the intersection of each person’s blueprint. Your blueprint doesn’t help you ‘get what they got’, it helps you walk the path your Soul came to walk.
15. You hyper-fixate on getting it “right.”
The right timing. The perfect embodiment of strategy, initiation, authority.
The perfect transit window. You wait to feel 100% certain.
You analyze. You cross-reference. And in the name of alignment… you freeze. Perfectionism wears very spiritual clothing here.
It says:
“I just want to honor my design.”
“I don’t want to force.”
“I’m waiting for the correct timing.”
But underneath it’s keeping you stuck. It’s keeping you outsourcing. You learn it by living it. These systems are scaffolding.
They are meant to support self trust, regulation, capacity, choice (and yes cosmic alignment) but if they are increasing anxiety, keeping you small or in your head rather than living the experiment then something is off. Neither is meant to limit you or explain your personal sovereignty away.
so…
I’m certainly not telling you to ignore your design or astrology (or gene keys or numerology). I LOVE working with all of these systems. This is a huge part of my work that I greatly value. I’m telling you to own it, don’t let it own you.
I said in a workshop this week that you could focus on a few key things in your astro and human design and if you really oriented in that direction, regulated your nervous system, and did some basic subconscious reprogramming, most of the rest would work itself out. In many ways we have way overcomplicated it. Human Design was meant to put you in the passenger seat. Not exhaust yourself pulling every little thing apart.
There is so much magic in unpacking pieces of your design but my most favorite thing is to use it simply. To inform orientation. To show me what tools will be the most supportive for me to rewire subconsciously, support feelings of safety, find the flow + ease, regulate my nervous system, live my best life.
When we let it limit us, question our own intuition, make us perfectionistic, or live smaller… we need to pause. Come back to our breath, our body, the basics.
Come back to choice. Come back to the experiment.
